Our Aliso DA Directors

DAVID LIM (HEAD COACH)
David is the Founder of GRV and GRaVy Babies and has directed GRV for 9 years. GRV is known for being one of the top dance teams in the world, winning competitions all over California that include teams from various countries and winning the silver medal in the world finals at Hip Hop International. They also have been the World of Dance Champions in 2010, 2012 and 2013. He is also an international choreographer who has taught all over the world. Some countries include Russia, Japan, China, Sweden, Colombia, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ukraine and many more. He has recently choreographed his own music video for the Kpop (Korean-pop) sensation BTS, whom are famous all over Korea and the USA. David is also a University dance instructor at UC Irvine.

JASMINE ORCAZ (HEAD COACH)
Jasmine Orcaz has been a part of Dance Appreciation since the year 2012. As a member of the team, she found her love for dance and the family environment it cultivates. After graduating from Aliso Niguel High School in 2014, she continued to volunteer with the team, offering immense support at performances and assistance in the production of the Aliso Dance Classic Competition and DA Spring Showcase. Soon after, she became a coach and started DA’s first ever Junior Varsity division with Advisor Kelli Murphy.
During her college years, Jasmine was a part of The Prototypes, a fundamental street styles team from Long Beach, and Common Ground, a collegiate team based in University of California, Irvine. Her additional experience includes choreographing for Filipino debuts and co-directing Ground Family’s youngest division, PlayGround Dance Team.
As DA coach, Jasmine’s biggest goal every season is to provide the members of DA with the same formative and memorable experience she was able to have on the team. “I feel like I have the biggest privilege in being a coach. Being able to watch these kids grow and gain confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories through dance is extremely fulfilling. I hope to have this privilege for years and years to come.”

KELLI MURPHY (ADVISOR)
Mrs. Murphy has been teaching at Aliso Niguel High School since 1999, and currently teaches Biotechnology and AP Environmental Science. She has been married to her husband for 36 years, and has two amazing children, and three grandchildren. Before becoming a teacher, she worked as a veterinary technician, a biologist for the National Park Service, and served in the U.S. Army as a combat medic. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Riverside, and her teaching credential from Chapman University. She has been the DA Advisor since 2006.
It all started when former DA member and coach, Melissa Emnas, asked her if she would be willing to help DA become a competitive team. The rest is history! We have become a force to be reckoned with in the competition circuits, but more importantly have grown into a DA family. The DA family now includes an amazing Booster Club who helps the team meet all of their funding goals, and is very supportive of the kids and our program. It also includes two fabulous and caring coaches, David Lim and Jasmine Orcaz, who are the backbone of our team and the inspiration of our team’s success.
Mrs. Murphy is so happy that she came on board, and has thoroughly enjoyed every second of being a member of this family. She wouldn’t give it up for anything, and hopes to continue for many years to come!
